Career Breakers:

Are you thinking about a career break? Jamaica is offering immersion opportunities in local communities. Facebook and the other social media sites have changed the world and allow us to interact and network with people of different cultures every day. Because of this when you volunteer abroad and put this on your CV, you stand out. When you volunteer abroad you learn how to appreciate people from different cultures and their differences.

Gap year for grown ups

You might have missed a Gap year when you were 18 and now you feel the bug again. If you are feeling restless and need a change a Grown up Gap year might just be what the doctor ordered.

Mature volunteer project overseas:

Looking to make new friends, and explore new places? One of the best ways to experience a new culture is to live it. Instead of doing the same vacation why not try a life changing volunteer vacation where you use your skill to make a difference.

Boomers and volunteers over 50:

Looking for something completely new on your next vacation and love exploring a new country and culture? Volunteering will allow you to work directly with something you’re passionate about while impacting entire communities and future generations.

Volunteer opportunities abroad for seniors are open to all whether you volunteer during winter, spring or summer.

Volunteer abroad during retirement projects can be done as an individual or in a group. You do not need any prior experience but must be flexible and love working with children.

Once your application is accepted, we will search for a project that matches the experience you are looking for. Before your departure, our Program Advisor will contact you to learn more about you and to create an itinerary for the activities you want to do. We will use our experience to guide you with ideas that have been successful with others before.

To make your work impactful, pre –planning is necessary so making a decision early on the type of activities you’ll do is important. When you know what you want to do, start collecting resources from family, friends or in some cases you might have to buy some. Some of these could be art & craft supplies, crayons, play dough or music and sports equipment

Project days & times:

Programs for older volunteers abroad will be available Monday – Friday from 9:00 am to approximately 4:30.pm. If you would like a shorter day we can organize this. We want you to be totally immersed in the Jamaican culture so on weekends our organization offers day excursions and cultural immersion experiences. We continually look for eye-opening cultural activities for you to do in your free time, so on your arrival in Jamaica we could suggest current events like festivals and sports.

Duration of this project

You can volunteer for a minimum of one week or a maximum of three months. If you require a longer duration special arrangements would be needed so contact us.

You can combine projects

Volunteer opportunities abroad for seniors are often combined with teaching in schools or working in Orphanages. If you are interested in working with Orphanages or childcare facilities you can make this request.

How this program works?

Orientation: You will be given an orientation upon your arrival at the volunteer home. During the orientation you’ll be told what to expect the following day, the time of departure and pick up.

Transportation:

On your first day and every day of your project we will provide transportation. Depending on your project location, you may be transported alone or with other volunteers.

What to expect on the first day of your project

We promised to be always there for you, so as a part of your in-country support, we provide one of our Program Advisors to accompany you to your project on your first day. You will be introduced to the local staff and we help you settle in. We will not leave you until we are sure that you are comfortable and have clear instructions on what to do.

Before our departure, we will help you make arrangements for an affordable lunch or we will show you how to find the closest food store. At end of the day, we’ll pick you up at the agreed time. On your way home, we can go the extra mile to allow you to purchase supplies or get money changed to our local currency.

Start Dates

Start Dates

Our volunteer programs for grown up gapers are available all year round allowing you to take part when you can, so on your application you will indicate your start and end dates. Although we are flexible there are times during the year when Jamaica has major holidays and celebrations, so it is advisable to plan your trip that your dates do not coincide with these major events.

 Pre- set arrival dates

If you are travelling as a group or with family members, we’ll work with you to set the dates of your arrival. We ask that you book your flight to arrive on the weekend so that you can start on a Monday. If your arrival date cannot be on a weekend, you need to make special arrangements for a mid–week start date.

 Last minute booking

We encourage you to always plan your volunteering trips early as pre-planning allows you to get more out of your trip. If you decide at the last minute to volunteer in Jamaica, it might be possible to make it happen but it will depend on the project. Complete the application form and contact us to find out if we can make the project of your choice happen.
