Live like a Charles Town Maroon for a day. Maroons in Jamaica were slaves who ran away from the sugar cane fields and lived in the mountains. Here’s a day that will change your life forever as you immerse yourself in the experience of the brave slaves who made history.
Step back in time and imagine sitting by the river in Maroon Villages in Jamaica. Eat some of the very foods brought from West Africa for the slaves. For example, Yams, Plantains, and Jerk.
Also, learn about the fascinating history of the Maroons by visiting the Maroon Museum. See the artifacts, tools, and samples of the houses once used.
Besides, hear stories of how the slaves kept the African culture alive through drumming & dancing. And to climax this, participate in the drumming and dancing after lunch. And finish the day by swimming in the cold, fresh river.
