When you volunteer with Jamaica Volunteer Programs, you’ll be working as part of the short, mid and long term goals that we have developed in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).

Also, the Community Experts work closely with Jamaica Volunteer Programs to implement many of our projects. 

This collaborative partnership enables us to monitor the impact of our projects and allow us to measure which of the UN SDGs are making a sustainable contribution.  

On the first day of your project, you will learn about the UN SDGs objectives and mission and how our project is aligning with these goals. You’ll also get information on how for 17 years, we have been working towards these short, mid, and long term goals. We aim to educate you on local-global issues, and how you can contribute to the organizations’ mission to empower the lives of the people in the community.

JVP  offers projects in two different locations — Kingston and Ocho Rios — all with picturesque accommodations and comfortable living and free wifi. Just outside the city is the suburb called St Andrew. You’ll stay at the English-style Smokey Manor Volunteer Home, which offers air-conditioned shared accommodation and western dormitory-style rooms. 

There are also a limited number of private and double room occupancy with own bathrooms. For your convenience, Just 10 – 15 minutes away are shopping centers and major hospitals in the city.

When you choose Kingston as your location, you’ll get the chance to sample the ‘heart’ of the island as you immerse yourself in the city that never sleeps. With many landmarks and incredible nightlife, this location is always bustling with life and never short of things to do 

For Study Abroad or other groups, there is the option to request a hotel stay.

If you choose to stay in Ocho Rios, you’ll live in the popular tourist destination and cruise ship port on the north coast of the island. It is the capital of adventure. With its many rivers and waterfalls, there’s always something thrilling and exciting to do in this resort town.

In Ocho Rios, we offer two accommodations:

The Harmony Haven Volunteer Home: This villa-style volunteer home offers air-condition, private rooms with its bathroom, double occupancy rooms,  dormitory-style bedrooms, shared patios, and a terrace. The property, nestled on the north coast of Jamaica, is also close to nearby shops and restaurants, and within walking distance from famous beaches. 

The Bellamour Studios and Apartments: This relaxing volunteer home is in the heart of Ocho Rios and within walking distance from some projects, shops, restaurants, and beaches. The property also offers dormitory-style rooms, shared kitchen to cook your meals.
